Foothold traps for live capture—Foot snares
The foot snare is considered a humane trapping method because its unique design keeps animal injuries at a minimum. Its action is straightforward:
- First the animal is caught in the trap
- Its movements to free itself from the trap cause the snare to close around its leg
- The animal eventually frees itself from the jaws by unhinging the springs that trigger the trap. The animal is then held in place solely by the snare.
This type of trap meets all of the standards of the Humane Trapping Standards and Certification Status (AIHTS).
Benefits:
- The trap doesn't cut off circulation and minimizes the possibility of injury
- Ideal for accidental captures because untargeted animals can easily be released
- The only trap on the market that allows the animal to free itself
- A first-rate trap for biologists and wildlife officials
- Perfect for relocating animals and nuisance control.
